DHA for brain health: DHA is a superb nutrient for brain health. I recommend taking this powerful supplement for brain health. (I prefer Nordic Pro DHA). There are some essential nutrients that your brain needs as you get older. The first and most recognizable is Omega 3′s. You need to either get Omega 3′s from food or from a supplement. Fish is a great source of Omega 3′s but has the downside of holding toxins — plus you have to eat a lot of it to get your daily dose.
When taking a supplement, a safe dose is 1000-2000 mg per day. If, like most of us, you are making your living from using your brain, it is really important to feed your brain what it needs to stay healthy.
The oil protects my post-menopausal heart (lots of estrogen used to do that for me), nurtures my skin and feeds my brain. You will want to avoid taking Cod Liver Oil supplements because it is high in Vitamin A and might be toxic in the long run. Look for a supplement that contains sardines and anchovies. I myself use ProEPA from Nordic Naturals and take three a day to supply me with 1275mg of EPA and 300 mg of DHA.
DHA for Brain Health
DHA is a superb nutrient for brain health. I highly recommend taking this powerful supplement for brain health. Again, I prefer the Nordic Naturals brand and use their ProDHA –three caps supply 675 mg of DHA. The recommended dose is 1000 mg a day. Look on the label of your Omega 3 supplement bottle and add the DHA that is in the Omega 3 bottle to the DHA supplement that you buy and you will get your daily dose.
